The best way to store your 3 wheel motorcycle is in a closed garage to keep the unit dry and cool, protected from bad weather, humidity and UV light. You might be able to keep your 3 wheel motorcycle stored in a shed or under a port which is the next best thing to storing it in your garage. But if you are not able to have either of these, just make sure you store your 3 wheel motorcycle under a well-equipped cover to avoid dust build up and avoid the affects from the harsh elements such as the sun or rain.
At your authorized BRP dealer you can find several covers, specifically designed to store your Spyder F3, RS, ST or RT. You can choose from outside and inside storage covers, but also lighter travel covers which are easy to take along on a nice ride.
If the vehicle will not be ridden for at least 4 months, such as during winter, proper storage is necessary to keep the vehicle in good condition. BRP recommends you have your authorized BRP dealer fully prepare your vehicle for storage. After a storage period, your vehicle must be prepared and inspected.
Riding three-wheeled, open-air vehicles like a Can-Am On-Road product requires the same protective gear as motorcycling. Even though the vehicle is more stable at low speeds.
Helmet
Helmet requirements are the same as standard motorcycles and vary by location. While helmet laws aren’t universal, BRP recommends everybody wear a helmet while riding a Can-Am On-Road product. In Europe you will need an ECE-approved helmet to protect against head injuries in the event of a crash and to reduce the severity of such injuries. A helmet will also offer shelter from wind noise and turbulence and protect against debris, stones and insects. Full face helmets provide better protection than open face helmets.
An improperly fitted helmet will not do its job and may prove to be very uncomfortable when you are riding. Take the time to fit your helmet properly. Try on several helmets and in various sizes. Do not purchase a used helmet. A helmet should fit snugly, not tightly.
Please note that in France all motorcycle helmets must have retro-reflective elements attached.
Eye Protection
Eye protection not only keeps wind from making tears streak down your face, they also keep all manner of debris and bugs from flying into your eyes. Visors in helmets offer built-in eye protection, but some riders prefer to wear separate eye protection so they can enjoy a tinted field of vision that's removable when the sun drops.
Jackets
To protect your upper body and arms, we recommend wearing proper riding gear, made of sturdy material. Properly designed gear will not only protect the rider in the event of a crash, but will also keep a rider comfortable in most weather conditions. A wide variety of jackets are available, offering many options when it comes to upper body protection; from technical gear to ventilated summer wear to rain gear. Go to your authorized BRP dealer to find out more about Can-Am clothing; not only to protect yourself but also to ride in style!
Gloves
All riders should wear gloves when riding, protecting the palms, knuckles, and fingers from wind, sun, heat, cold and flying objects. Gloves provide for an excellent grip of the controls, even if a rider’s hands are sweating, or in the rain. Gloves should be full-fingered and can be made of leather or a synthetic material. A wide variety of gloves are available, depending on your riding style and weather conditions. Choose your favorite glove type at your authorized BRP dealer.
Pants
Specially designed riding pants are also recommended, especially when going out for longer rides with your 3 wheel motorcycle. If you prefer riding in normal pants, make sure you always wear long pants, made of sturdy material. Pant styles range from touring and dual purpose to sport and casual. There are plenty of other more casual options, check your authorized BRP dealer.
Boots
Always wear closed sturdy shoes or boots, preferably over-the-ankle. Footwear with low heels and non-slip soles are also preferred. A well designed boot helps a rider comfortable operate the foot controls as well as keeping the feet on the footrests.
Hearing protection
Hearing protection is recommended, as long-term exposure to wind and motor noise when riding can cause permanent hearing loss. Properly worn hearing protective devices such as earplugs can help prevent hearing loss. Check local laws before using any hearing protective devices.
